Hi, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well, and I hope your June reading month is starting off great! I’m here today to do another tag – the BFF Book Tag!
This is such a fun tag and really makes you think about book characters. I loved this tag. Thanks for tagging me, Calliope, and thanks Chantal for creating this tag!
1. Setting the Example: A pair/group of book BFFs that you love.
I really enjoyed reading about the friend group in Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, especially while the romance was brewing between St. Clair and Anna. The friendship between the five friends—Josh, Meredith, Rashmi, St. Clair, and Anna—was really natural and very typical of high school students, and I found the humor and dialogue realistic. It was wonderful to read, even with romance thrown in the mix!
2. Childhood Bestie: Which book character would you like to have grown up with?
I think I would’ve liked to have grown up with Hazel Grace Lancaster from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Despite the fact that she has cancer and I would’ve had to spent my life worrying about losing her, I think we would’ve gotten along splendidly. She has the same sarcastic sense of humor as I do, and we both love books! We would’ve had a great bond, I believe.
3. Frenemy: Which book character would bring out your competitive side?
Probably Hermione Granger. Now, don’t get me wrong. I LOVE Hermione—I love that she’s a badass fighter, stands up for what she believes in, and is super intelligent. However, I graduated at the top of my class. Seriously, out of over 3,000 people graduating at my university, only 8 had the highest GPA possible. I was one of them. And if Hermione lived in Memphis and went to my college, I know she’d be one of those 8, too. We’d compete. We’d make each other jealous. We’d both want to be the best. I hope we’d be friends, but grade wise and in the classroom, we’d be frenemies.
4. Fashion Guru: Who would be the bestie whose closet you’d want to raid or go on a shopping spree with?
I love Louisa Clark’s, from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, funky style. She’s not afraid to wear crazy outfits that make people stare, and I love that about her. She’s spunky and unique, and I’d want her to share all of her wonderful clothing with me. Especially the bumblebee tights.
5. The Bad Influence: Which character would you want to commit a small act of rebellion with?
Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. If you’ve read this series, then you know that Rose spends most of the books getting in trouble. She’s also phenomenal of getting out of trouble, too. She goes on these epic adventures, and even though she always ends up creating chaos along the way, she isn’t afraid to make her own path in the world and do what she wants. If I wanted to go crazy and create some trouble, I’d choose Rose as my partner in crime.
6. Blood Brothers: Which character would you want to be your surrogate brother/sister?
Since I already have a sister, I want a brother, and I’d choose Landon from the After Series by Anna Todd. The series follows Tessa’s crazy and tumultuous relationship with Hardin, but many times we get to see Tessa’s friendship with Hardin’s stepbrother, Landon. And let me tell you, he is incredibly sweet. He’s affectionate and loving in the brotherly way for Tessa and he’s always there when she needs him, and vice versa. He’s wonderful. He’s someone I’d want as a big brother to protect me and to stand up for me. I adore him. I do.
7. Mother Hen: Which character would you want to be by your side when you’re having a bad day to cheer you up?
I know I might get a bit of hate for this answer, but I think I’d want Jacob Black from the Twilight Saga to cheer me up when I’m down. Let’s face it. At times, he was a great friend to Bella when she needed him. Then he turned into the world’s worst friend by attempting to force a relationship with her. However, with me, I think he’s be an awesome male friend who could be there for me and cheer me up. There would be no romance between us—strictly friendship. I feel like there would be a lot of laughing and joking around between Jacob and me.
8. The Counselor: Which character would you go to for relationship advice or confide a secret to?
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know I love the Beautiful Series by Christina Lauren. Those two ladies write the most beautiful romance books, even if they are a bit erotic. I couldn’t choose between two of the women in these novels, so I chose two. First, I’d ask relationship advice/confide a secret to Chloe Mills from Beautiful Bastard. She’s such a strong female character who’s incredibly intelligent while also being a snarky, sarcastic love interest to Bennet Ryan. I think she’d be able to keep secrets well and give the perfect relationship advice (because Bennet is whipped over her). And I’d also confide in Sara Dillon in Beautiful Stranger. Sara seems to sweet and loving, and I know she’s a character that would never betray me and always give me great advice. Between Chloe and Sara, I’d be set for life.
9. More than Friends: Who would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?
I love male characters (and men in real life). I’d have such a hard time picking one character, but the man right now that is stealing my heart is Jace Wayland from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I’m only ¼ into City of Ashes, the second book, but I already am so in love with Jace. He’s snarky and arrogant and sarcastic, but he’s also sweet and charming. He’s the perfect balance of a man and everything I want.
